American Idol – Season 12, Episode 23 – The top eight 'Idol' contestants face elimination in Detroit, where the show is visiting for Motown Week. (FOX)more pics »Ever want to see what happens when the cameras stop rolling after the American Idol results show? Well starting Thursday fans of the show will be treated to a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the crying, hugging, and backstage reactions as the show sneaks out of its timeslot and into the 9-10pm hour.
The new feature is called, "Still Rolling," and according to Fox execs talking to The Hollywood Reporter it will deliver "raw, real, intimate post-show moments and reactions," in 15-second increments during special airings of New Girl and The Mindy Project. We don't know how excited to be over this news, since Fox already delivers three hours of AI a week with more features online. We'll call it a win if we get to see the contestants bitching about Nicki Minaj the night of the show instead of on Twitter over the weekend.
It's a good time to launch the feature as the show heads into the home stretch with just seven contestants left before its big finale, scheduled for May 16. Allow Ryan Seacrest to sell you on the new feature.
“All the judges are different when they're not behind the desk, so this will let viewers at home catch an inside glimpse of how they are with the contestants after the show is over, especially on elimination night when emotions run so high."
